Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women is a church-wide organization whose membership is open to all women.
This organization gives strong support to the mission of the denomination and determines
its own leadership, program, and budget. Its purpose is to nurture our faith through
prayer and Bible study; to support the mission of the church world wide; to work for
justice and peace; and to build an inclusive, caring community of women who strengthen the
Presbyterian Church (USA) and witness to the promise of God's kingdom.
Two special offerings are taken each year. The spring Birthday Offering goes for not
more than three predetermined projects. The fall Thank Offering is used for a number of
smaller projects with 33% going for health ministries. Honorary Life Memberships and
Recognition and/or Memorial Gifts are to be used for leader development of women.
Presbyterian Women encourages support of Church Women United and denominational programs
such as peacemaking and hunger.
The First Presbyterian organization has a coordinating team of four persons plus
approximately 13 additional leaders who are committee chairs and moderators of the four
circles. These women make up the Executive Board. Members of the coordinating team are
responsible for the annual budget.
