It’s Good For Your Health!

Health Ministries is kicking off its ministry with a Health Fair this Sunday, February 13, from 9:30 - 11 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Come -- get your blood pressure checked.

Come -- get weighed and get information on exercise.

Come -- enjoy healthy snacks.

Come -- get information on how to nurture good health in body, mind and spirit.

Come -- it’s good for your health!

Health Ministry of First Presbyterian Church

"Responding to God’s gift of life and our life in Jesus Christ, we seek to nurture health, healing, and wholeness in body, mind and spirit in our church and community."

Begin walking with God at the Fair!

FPC Health Ministries is sponsoring a unique way to observe Lent this year. Instead of giving up something, consider adding something that is good for your body, mind and spirit.

What? "Walk to Jerusalem"

Who? YOU and the whole congregation

Where? Wherever you walk

When? Whenever you walk

How? We’ll give you a pedometer (if you don’t already have one) and a log to keep track of your miles, along with inspirational Bible verses to meditate on as you walk.

"But, Jerusalem is over 6,000 miles from here!" You can’t do it alone, but together, as a church, we can walk to Jerusalem! Sign up at the Health Fair this Sunday, to join your brothers and sisters on the journey.

Why? Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

E-votions for Lent have begun!

During the 40 days of Lent, John Wurster will prepare brief reflections on passages from the gospels and distribute these daily via e-mail. If you haven’t gotten your name on the list please send an e-mail to John at jwurster@findlayfpc.org.

Lenten Suppers & Programs begin this Sunday

It’s all new! Join us this Sunday at 5 p.m. as we begin our Lenten Series: "Where in the World Is the Presbyterian Church?" This week all ages are invited to a unique journey through Mexico. (Suggested donation is $4 for adults and $2.00 for children under 10.) Children will make a passport for the journey and make the "Eye of God" as well as learn a Mexican song and enjoy a traditional celebration of breaking a piñata. The adult presenter will be Rev. Jim Miller, a leader in our Presbytery’s Mexican partnership ministry. Join us as we fellowship together!

Please fill your ark with coins and paper money as we work together to share our gifts with others through the donation of animals. We will be collecting the arks until Easter Sunday. Please place your ark in a visible spot at home so you can remember to donate. If you do not receive an ark and would like to donate for the project, please drop your donation in the large ark in the Narthex.

Living Through Loss

Anger and Guilt: Two Challenges of Grief,

Two of the more common feelings which grieving individuals experience are anger and guilt. These are also two of the more difficult feelings with which to come to terms. This discussion will help you to understand what these feelings are, and more importantly, how to heal. Join us Monday, February 14, at 7 p.m. in the Parlor. This program is presented by Gene McEvoy, L.I.S.W., is free and open to the public.

Presbytery Meeting Here

The Maumee Valley Presbytery will be meeting at our church on February 15. The meeting begins in the sanctuary at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come and observe Presbyterians in action. Thank You Presbyterian Women!

Each year Presbyterian Women from around the world answer God’s call to make a difference in the lives of others. One way in which the women answer this call is through the Birthday Offering. By combining nationwide resources, Presbyterian Women members contribute to a fund that supports five charities annually. In 2003, Childspring International was selected as one of the charities to receive funding. With the support of the Presbyterian Women Birthday Offering, 50 children were given the opportunity to receive medical treatments and scholarships so that they could become accepted and productive members of their communities. As the only children’s charity selected, we are proud to participate in "The Decade of the Child" with the Pres. Church (USA).

SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY RESULTS

Last Sunday $436.45 was received for the Souper Bowl of Caring offering last Sunday. All money will be donated to the Hancock Christian Clearing House. Thank you for your support.

Are you thinking what I am thinking?

Think spring. Think sunshine. Think fellowship. Think 6th Annual First Presbyterian Easter Egg Hunt! This year’s Easter Egg Hunt will take place Saturday, March 26. We could not be more excited as this event provides us with a great opportunity to reach out to our community through our growing church. We need your help to accommodate the over 600 children ages 2 through 5th grade. The success of this event requires the assistance of 40 volunteers along with more than 20,000 pieces of candy. Please help out by bringing your individually wrapped Easter candy to the box located in the narthex and sign up to help on the sheet outside of the church office. Be a part of this great event, and contact Kelly Parker 419.423.2112 x 28, Rich Dougherty 419.422.8948 or Sandi Bunting 419.423.3794 to see how you can play a part!

Cookbook Correction

Please add this information to your In Good Taste cookbook – page 116, Rice & Noodle Casserole – add to the ingredient section: ½ pound uncooked very fine noodles. Thanks.
