SESSION
The Session is the governing body of the church. The members of the
Session are Elders. The Session maintains the spiritual government of the
congregation, for which it has the power to inquire into the knowledge and Christian
conduct of the members of the church. The numerous responsibilities include the
supervision of the church school, the work of the Deacons and
Trustees and all societies
and agencies of the congregation. The Session oversees all phases of baptisms and the
proper observance of the Lord's Supper; provides resources and instruction to prepare
persons, both children and adults, for reception as active church members; and excludes
temporarily or removes permanently from ordained office or membership those who are found
to deserve censure.
The moderator of the Session is the Pastor, or, if necessary, a
member of Maumee Valley Presbytery
or another Pastor of the church may preside if the moderator so requests. The clerk, who
is an official officer of the congregation, prepares the docket with the moderator,
records minutes, signs official documents, and presides at the Annual Meeting for Pastors'
Call section of the meeting. Regular monthly meetings of twenty members are held the
second Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to conclude no later than 10:00 p.m. Special meetings, for
receiving new members and any other purpose, can be called.
Clerk of Session: Peggy Lobb
Commissioner to Presbytery: Jim Baker
